Running, ugh!

So I signed up to run a 5K (3miles) on Mother's Day for Race for the Cure and now I wish I hadn't. I am saying this now because just yesterday I started training for the race. After the race is all said and done, I will probably wish I hadn't said this! Alot of stressful things were going on at home, so I really needed to blow off some steam. So my lovely husband said, "Why don't you go for a run? When I go for a run it relieves my stress and it clears my head." I had to start training anyway, so why not? So I got on all my gear, tennies, jog wear and headed outside to run around my neighborhood. Now and I have to let you know that I havent ran for about 3 years, so I knew this wasn't going to go great. However, I was excited to get out there and do it finally. I started running and it felt pretty good. Then about 3 minutes into it my chest started to hurt - really bad. I couldn't breath and despirately wanted water. Not even 5 minutes into my run and I was in pain. I thought, "My 3 miles is going to be absolute agony if I can't run for 3 minutes!" I walked a couple times for only a few seconds but it helped so much. I kept running and endured the pain for about another 15 minutes - totally hating it and thinking about stopping every second. I probably only accomplished running 1/2 mile or less and I decided it was time to call it quits. Moral of the story, I should've started training ALONG TIME AGO. Mother's Day is only about 3 weeks away now and I am going to be hurtin in the race! I will keep you posted on my pain..
