What a great Memorial weekend!

This weekend we went to visit my grandparents cabin in Pequot Lakes, MN. They live on Upper Hay lake and it's such an amazing place. We drove up Friday afternoon and the traffic was horrible since everyone and their brother decided to go out of town this weekend. The drive usually takes 2 hrs. 45 min. and it took 4 hrs. and 30 mins. to finally get up there!! My Aunt, Uncle and their kids were also up for the weekend, so we had a packed house. We enjoyed the nice weather, went to a flea market, tooks rides on the pontoon, took nature walks, played games, fished & ate yummy home-cooked meals (Grandma you makes the best waffles). Jack and I also went tubing on "Big Bertha". This was a first for him and he seemed to enjoy it :) It was such a nice and relaxing weekend away!

I'm addicted to Garage Sales!

Since the weather has finally decided to perk up, I have been to many garage sales around our neighborhood and I am completely hooked. In the past, I always looked down to second hand things. But as I get older & wiser, I am learning that old things can be very valuable and cheap at the same time! I am finding myself looking for signs on every corner and searching in the paper to find sales. I picked up some very nice toys/clothes for Jack this past week and they were in excellent shape and most under $1.00. I have also been searching craigslist and I am learning that this too can be a good source for picking up used goodies. Craiglist items, most often are usually alot more expensive though, but you can find some good deals here and there. I have found that garage sale are the cheapest out of the two. I will post some pictures of my recent purchases soon. Remember: One person's junk, is another person's treasure!

May 11th 2009 - Jack's 1st Birthday!

I woke up this morning and could hardly believe that my son had turned 1 year old! It was May 11th and it had been one year already since I gave birth to our beautiful little boy, Jack Andrew Christensen. At 7:11 a.m., Jack came into this world at Fairview Southdale Hospital, 2 1/2 weeks early! I was only in labor for 3 hours before he was born. I was so lucky! I remember having so many great feelings that day; excited, overjoyed, blessed & scared to be responsible for such an amazing miniature human being. Over the past year, Jack has brought so much joy to Ben and I and we are so thankful that God gave us an opportunity to raise such a sweet little man. Although he isn't walking yet, he is scaling the furniture quite quickly, eating like a tank and loves to play with all his toys! Happy Birthday buddy! We love you so much lil Jack!

Jack's 1st Birthday Party

On Saturday May 9th, we had Jack's 1st Birthday Party! Jack's actual birthday is on May 11, but we wanted to celebrate on the weekend so everyone could come. Almost all of our family came over to celebrate with us. We served yummy beef/chicken tacos with all the fixings. Plus guacamole & chips. That was gone almost instantly! I got a special Jungle ice cream cake for the party from DQ and also made Jack his own personal cake. Jack got tons of awesome presents; clothes, toys, books, etc. Thanks so much everyone! I think the best part of the party was Jack getting all messy with his chocolate birthday cake! All in all, I think Jack enjoyed himself.

A night out with my Husband

Earlier this week, Ben and I decided that we needed to get a night away. Ben's parents were kind enough to watch Jack for the night so we could get out. Ben decided to go on priceline.com to find an inexpensive hotel on the internet as we didn't want to spend too much. The funny thing was he entered the metro area hoping to get something near prior lake or somewhere where we don't always go. But instead, the hotel came up in Bloomington! Sheraton Bloomington (its right across from my work!) Anyway, there are a couple good things about Priceline and some bad things. The couple good things were we got to choose what star rating we wanted for the hotel and we got the price we wanted to spend. The bad things were, they charge your credit card without seeing the hotel and the charge is non-refundable, you dont get to change the hotel. All in all it turned out to be a nice get-a-way with no kids or interruptions. We went out to dinner at PF Changs, saw a movie, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (chick-flick) and then went back to the hotel and enjoyed the awesome jacuzzi and pool. Then we woke up and went to my fav breakfast place, Original Pancake House, a.k.a OPH. It was a nice get-a-way, even if it was in Bloomington!
